AUGUST S.T.E.A.M-2017

Stages of the Solar Eclipse

From this project students now understand the Earth goes around the Sun while the Moon goes around Earth in an oval, or elliptical, orbit. Our view of the sunlit part of the Moon changes as the Moon circles Earth. That’s why the Moon’s shape seems to change. These changes are called phases. Every so often, part or all of one heavenly body is hidden from view by the shadow of another. That’s called an eclipse. A solar eclipse happens when the Moon blocks the Sun’s light from some area on Earth. A lunar eclipse is when Earth blocks the Sun’s light from the Moon

FOSSILS

What can we learn from Fossils ? We only know about extinct groups like dinosaurs, ammonites and trilobites through fossils. Some animals and plants are only known to us as fossils. By studying the fossil record we can tell how long life has existed on Earth, and how different plants and animals are related to each other.

SEPTEMBER S.T.E.A.M 2017 - (CLOUDS ) TECHNOLOGY AND WEATHER

Students learn about different types of clouds and their relationship to weather. It encourages young children to develop their powers of observation, and important component of the scientific method. Students can watch for cloud patterns in the sky and observe what these clouds signal about weather changes, why and how they are formed.

OCTOBER S.T.E.A.M 2017 - (TORNADO ) SCIENCE , MATH & WEATHER

From this project students were taught there are several required conditions for the formation of a tornado. What those conditions are, its origin and that a tornado is a violent rotating column extending from a thunderstorm to the ground, what's in a tornado, its speed, size capabilities, destructive effects, how and why it forms, and what it looks like.
